Dog Forest

Dog Forest was my first formal attempt at game development. Together with two friends, who also had no prior experience in making games, we started building a game from scratch. This collaboration was my first time truly facing and experiencing the difficulties and challenges of the game development process.

The project was created for a game jam hosted by thatgamecompany with the theme 'Generosity.' Early on, we decided on a core mechanic where a dog could split apart, merge back together, and give parts of its body to rescue other trapped animals, who would then travel alongside it. However, implementing the splitting and merging mechanic through programming proved to be challenging. Due to constraints of time, what we have is an incomplete mini-demo, but it still successfully showcases the core concept and gameplay. Our original plan was to include more puzzle-solving content, where different animals would need to collaborate using their unique abilities to advance.
