BOT or NOT
A Two-player battle game with theme of Everything is alive
Summer 2025 | CiGA Gamejam | Team Project
This project was part of a 48-hour offline game jam. I was primarily responsible for the character design, character animation, UI, and gameplay instructions. We all brainstormed and agreed upon the gameplay and mechanics together. This was my first time joining a mature development team, and thus get familiar with the entire process of game development.
In this game, we interpret the theme "everything is alive" in two ways. One is literal, where all kinds of electrical appliances in life become living things that can be controlled and moved. The second is reflected in the gameplay: when you don't know where the other player is, every character around you may be another player, that is, every character may be alive in a real sense.
Game Description:
Bot or Not is a local two-player battle game played on the same screen. In a crowd filled with AI-controlled bots, players must hide themselves, blend in, and track down the other player to secretly approach and defeat them! Be careful—anyone around you could be your enemy. Everyone is alive!
Players can use the switch skill to swap their controlled character among the many NPC-like characters on the screen, avoiding detection by their opponent. Different character types come with unique abilities—use them wisely to locate and eliminate your rival. However, both the switch skill and attack abilities come with cooldowns, so don't expose yourself by using them recklessly. Stay sharp and claim victory!
